Maryne Roestoff founded CiPCALL after personal experience showed how easily conventional measures can fail at the moment of the crime-even when tracking, armed response, and guards are part of the picture.
She survived attempted hijackings in 2007 and 2009 and a violent hijacking in 2012. Despite sophisticated vehicle tracking and security nearby, those systems did not protect her during the hijacking itself.
The CiPCALL team also includes Maryneβs sister, her daughter, and partners who support operations, installation networks, and awareness β with more faces and stories to share as the company grows.
βNeither the vehicle nor any of the stolen items were recovered. Had my children been with me at the time, the consequences could have been far more severe.β
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the CiPCALL Device?
CiPCALL is a standalone emergency crime notification device that enables members of
the public to report a violent crime while it is happening.
When activated, the device displays a flashing CRIME IN PROGRESS alert with
emergency contact numbers.
Bystanders then call the displayed number to request immediate assistance.
It allows crime to be reported in real time, even if the victim cannot make a call.
What does the CiPCALL logo mean?
The logo represents:
CRIME IN PROGRESS
It signals an active violent crime situation requiring urgent response.
When and by whom is it used?
It is used by a victim:
- At the onset of a violent crime
- During a hijacking, armed robbery, kidnapping, home invasion, or similar threat
- When immediate assistance is needed
The victim activates the system discreetly using hidden panic buttons.
How does CiPCALL work?
- The device is installed in a vehicle or building.
- Hidden wired panic buttons are installed according to client requirements.
- When activated, the unit displays a flashing emergency alert.
- The screen shows:
- 112 (South Africaβs national emergency number)
- And/or a pre-programmed security or control room number
- Members of the public call the number displayed.

Can CiPCALL be used for medical or non-crime emergencies?
No.
CiPCALL is designed specifically for violent crime situations.
Misuse of the system may lead to legal consequences.
Is CiPCALL reliable?
Yes.
CiPCALL does not depend on:
- The victimβs cellphone
- Mobile apps
- Wi-Fi
- Subscription services
- Eskom power (vehicle installations)
- Remote battery (when wired buttons are installed)
Vehicle units are connected to the vehicle battery.
Building units include battery backup.
It is designed as an βif all else failsβ emergency system.
Can the device be jammed or deactivated?
Not easily.
The unit is hardwired to a power source.
It would require physical disconnection from the vehicle battery or building power system to disable it.
What if the remote does not work?
The standard installation includes fixed wired panic buttons.
Remotes are optional secondary activation tools.
Wired buttons are strongly recommended for maximum reliability.
Can CiPCALL be switched off after activation?
Yes.
If necessary, the victim can deactivate it.
If forced to switch it off, it can be reactivated using another hidden panic button.
Multiple panic buttons are typically installed.

Yes.
Under the National Road Traffic Act, restrictions apply to advertising and imitation
emergency lights.
CiPCALL:
- Is not an advertising display
- Does not imitate police emergency lights
- Is activated only during a genuine emergency
- Functions as an emergency notification system
Activation during an actual emergency does not constitute a traffic offence.
Is CiPCALL a once-off purchase?
Yes.
It is a once-off purchase when bought through an authorised CiPCALL distributor.
No subscription is required unless integrated with a third-party security provider.
Can I install it myself?

Warranty and liability coverage apply only if installed by an accredited installer.

Yes.
With written approval from your tracking company, their control room number can be programmed into the device.
The device itself does not automatically signal the control room – bystanders make the call.
